repeated aifollow causes the distance to stack

basically triggered choosing npc and consoling
aifollow player 0 0 0 0 getdistance player 179.745
aifollow player 0 0 0 0 getdistance player 359.268
aifollow player 0 0 0 0 getdistance player 537.624
aifollow player 0 0 0 0 ;this causes the npc to stay in place when moving away
;distance is where aifollow is on again and npc turn to face the player
getdistance player 453.541
;distance after moving away again
getdistance player 703.722
also interacts somehow with position scripting making distances to vary.
