Description

In vanilla, when a new journal entry is made to the journal, the same entry is output to a Journal.htm file in the Morrowind directory (outside of the Saves directory).

Here is an example Journal entry after the main quest is started:

<FONT COLOR="9F0000">16 Last Seed (Day 1)</FONT><BR>
My @orders# are to go to the town of @Balmora# in @Vvardenfell District# and @report# to a man named @Caius Cosades#. To find out where he lives, I should ask in @Balmora# at the cornerclub called @South Wall#. When I find @Caius Cosades#, I must give him a package of documents, and wait for further @orders#.<P>

I am not sure if the game re-reads this file when it starts up and populates the journal entries with it, or if the savegame portion actually records the journal entries, and the Journal.htm is just an archive of the journal that the user can view later.

I don't see any need to replicate this, and I'm not sure why you would call this a "feature".
Also, it does not fit with the current journal render implementation which does not support HTML at all.

Using this as the actual journal is out of the question anyway, because it needs to be recorded per savegame.

Ok, that's what I figured. It seemed like it would be overkill to re-read the Journal.htm file to get the entries for the journal when I imagine they would be in the savegame anyway.

I labeled it a 'feature' since I thought it was a feature of the original engine. If there is a consensus that this should not be bothered with, then we can just reject this.

My main reason for posting this was because the original game did this, and I don't know (or rather, I highly doubt) that anyone really used this file.

For what it's worth, I consider this a useful feature, if only for searching purposes. But maybe it'd be better off in a savegame analyzer?

What about a console command to save this out? It'd be a bit more explicit (so we don't have to manage it per-savegame), yet still useful for those wanting offline searching.
