Improve default controller bindings
By default OpenMW only allows walking with a half press of the analog stick, and runs when the analog stick is pressed further. I propose a rework of the keybindings by default to include run toggle rather than the existing solution. This would likely involve a significant change in default keybindings for things to seem cohesive, and I personally believe that much better bindings are possible than the current defaults.
Ignore quick equip binds for the betterment of the controller experience, example:
D-PAD %direction% - Quick Save D-PAD %direction% - Toggle POV D-PAD %direction% - Next Weapon? D-PAD %direction% - Next Spell?
Other suggested default bindings in the future:
Y/△ - Ready Magic
X/
Left bumper/L1 - Inventory Right bumper/R1 - Journal Left trigger/L2 - Quick Menu Right trigger/R2 - Use
Back/Select - Rest Start - Pause Left stick click/L3 - Toggle Run (Binding non-functional, see bug #4359 (closed)) Right stick click/R3 - Sneak (Toggle if possible)
This is an example set of course, but I think the original Xbox bindings are lackluster in a lot of areas and wouldn't work as well as something like what I've proposed. This should be a start to the various issues with controller play being fixed, including my reports and suggestions at bug #4359 (closed), and feature requests #3740, #3980 (closed), #3985, and #4000.
