Magic users blast their allies in the back
OpenMW now reproduces Morrowind's behaviour by allowing NPCs to hit your character with melee attacks from behind another NPC. However, enemy mages are still killing their allies for you by shooting them in the back.
Obviously, the "correct" behaviour is to have all NPCs perform a line of sight check and, if necessary, move to a better position to get a clean shot. But since that is probably a 1.0 feature, an interim fix to make magic behave like melee attacks would be appropriate.

Are you sure? IIRC, projectiles, casted by non-player actors, do not collide with friendly actors.
Actor can kill allies with area spells (e.g. Fireball), but vanilla Morrowind suffer from this issue too.

Can I determine ... No. Maybe somebody knows how, but I can't think of how to do that.
Reject the bug? Why? It is still a real bug either way. Or, are you thinking that this is how Morrowind developers intended it to work? As in, let's turn collision off so allies don't kill each other, but let's not change area affect spells because that would be an ugly hack.

Reject the bug? Why?
Because you did not provide any new info yet.
As I already said, if only area spells are affected, this bug is a duplicate of #3947 and should be rejected.
If your experience is different, you should provide a way to reproduce this bug.
#3947 is probably a post-1.0 feature, as implementing it can change game balance and provide additional AI exploits. I already tried to implement it.
