When using a gamepad double clicking the sneak button (on an XBox controller this is the right thumbstick button) should toggle sneak permanently on/off, whereas holding it down turns it on temporarily until the button is released. Currently only the temporary sneak behavior is implemented.

Since there is currently no feature to permanently turn sneak on for keyboards either, this seems like a good behavior for the sneak button in general.

Since there is currently no feature to permanently turn sneak on for keyboards either...

No, it exists: "toggle sneak" bool in Input section of the configuration file, by default it's false. Could you check if it works for gamepads?

This is the proper implementation for that feature, and as described this feature does not exist in a fully implemented way yet. Double tapping a button in-game should toggle it on and off whereas holding that button should turn sneak on temporarily. Once this feature is implemented, the "toggle sneak" setting could be considered obsolete.

However, since you brought it up, I just checked and yes the "toggle sneak = true" setting functions just as well for gamepads as it does for keyboards.

If it's available via "toggle sneak=true", is there anything to do for this feature request?

Yes, the feature is to permanently turn sneak on/off by double pressing the sneak button.
