Can't close container when item is "held"
In the original engine this added the held item to the player's inventory and was useful for quickly looting large numbers of containers with only one or two valuable items among junk.

I changed my mind. The original behavior does make sense (or at least, it's consistent with the rest of the game). Items dragged with the mouse cursor are treated as in the player's inventory, as you can see by weight increasing and being flagged for stealing the moment you pick up an item onto the cursor. So it makes sense that the implicit action when closing the menu with an ongoing drag-and-drop is to leave the item in player inventory.
