I suggest that OpenMW will fix this behaviour an use a "Manhattan Voronoi":http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Voronoi function to calculate to where you will teleport. Note: We use the enire cell as nodes, so the "corners" of the image on wikipedia will correspond to the cells (as nodes) not to the corners of the cells.
